The museum of dinosaurs!

Hi from Taipei, Taiwan! It's not a sudden change as I have lived here since February last year. I constantly leave my blog sites with no update from time to time. I could have started writing again since my first day of arrival to share my first experiences on this island of a nation. Anyway, they have been recorded well on my Instagram as I have become a more active user.

Let's skip the whole story of how I got here in this country, and let's jump to what's new. Yesterday, I had a bit more free time to go out and about in Taipei. I made a decision to visit a museum, the National Taiwan Museum. I could have stopped at NTU Hospital MRT station but I somehow forgot it was the closest station. So, I got off to walk to the museum from Taipei Main Station. I remember it was a warm day outside. I had my lunch in the park of the station; a box of ayam kremes with rice and vegetables.

So, I got to the museum. The National Taiwan Museum has two separate buildings standing across from each other divided by a street which only costs you 30 NTD or 15 NTD if you can show your student ID card. I had been to the main building a few weeks prior. The visit taught me a lot about how Taiwan was politically constructed and geographically expanded from time to time.

The museum I visited yesterday was the other building. It was smaller but not less facilitated. Actually, the museums in Taiwan often amaze me with how whoever manages them cares about the visitors' comfort and experience. Anyway, the second building of the museum allowed me to learn about the history of the national bank currencies in a smaller room specifically called Land Bank of Taiwan. Surprisingly, they keep the original safe room from back in the days making my presence just for being inside the room more involved. There was an eerie feeling, too.

Apart from the safe room, the museum was filled with paleontological knowledge and evidence. I came across bones and bones of dinosaurs. My only concern now is whether they are real or fake bones. Nevertheless, they looked cool in the eye and pictures. Like I said, it wasn't a big museum. There was only one main hall with small to big bones keeping me company.

I then went to check their gift shop for postcards. Too bad, I couldn't find any good one. I just like to get some postcards after visiting a museum.

That's it really. I went back home after the visit.
